The Insect Chorus (2006)
Written and Directed by Chloe Aftel

“This is not only an exceptionally beautiful film to watch, but it’s a lovely, dark story to get lost in. It defies any particular notion of time and place, which allows one to bring just a bit of their own subconscious along for the ride, due to Chloe Aftel's wonderfully subtle filmmaking.” -Brit Withey, Program Director, Starz Denver Film Festival

“Chloe Aftel is a talent to watch, with a fine eye and intriguing sense of story.” -Joanna Langfield - The Movie Minute (Vice-President)

After years of living with only one another, twin sisters Juliette (Nicola Collins) and Beatrice (Teena Colllins) long for something, or someone, new to bring excitement to their dreary lives. One morning a lonely traveling salesman, Zeb Ebelbu (Daniel Rivas), appears on their doorstep selling his wares. Although dramatically different women, Zeb finds both sisters charming and tries to win their affections. In doing so, he unwittingly gives life to long buried resentments and betrayals. Set in a surreal world where dreams mingle with reality, taxidermied bugs come to life, and a man sells oven-mitts in the dead heat of summer, THE INSECT CHORUS is an unexpected twist on the conventions of "Once upon a time."
